Social Media Innovations
Hello Everyone! Yes, this is yet another Social Networking Blog, but I promise you this one won't be too painful. ‘Rules for Social Media Marketing’
Rule #1
IT ONLY WORKS AS PART OF AN OVERALL STRATEGY
Social media is not a miracle cure for a bad business. Sorry to disappoint. Your business needs, and I mean NEEDS a strong strategy aimed at achieving ... what it is you want to achieve.
What or Who are your core competencies? How are you going to make the most of them? What’s your time frame? Where do you want to see your business in a few years time? These questions need to be answered otherwise your social media strategy will be aimless and a big waste of time.
Rule #2
SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING DOES NOT REPLACE TRADITIONAL MARKETING TECHNIQUES
Now a common misconception is that Social Media is the marketing strategy...no not really. You still need your 10% off offers or loyalty discounts or whatever you think works best to get your cash tills ringing. Social media can organize and let as many people know as is humanly possible, but on its own it could potentially be detrimental to your business.
IT'S ALL OR NOTHING!
Social networking sites are your high maintenance buddies. This is the main reason why some people think Social Media does not work. They get disgruntled with 'poor return on investment', bombarded by things they don't understand, they 'keep forgetting' to maintain their profiles etc.
But the truth is that Social Marketing will only work if you give it due attention.
If at the end of the day you are too busy to tweet, don't tweet! You might even give off the wrong impression.
